One of the North West’s most highly ranked and successful Chambers is looking for an experienced Fees Clerk to join their very efficient and friendly team here in Chester. With an excellent track record in the key areas of law and 70+ barristers, including several King’s Counsel, the Chamber has well established, strong relationships with clients across the North West, Wales, the Midlands and Yorkshire, and in a variety of sectors including direct access clients.  Many of its barristers are recognised as leaders in their field and the clerking team which supports them are known for their friendly efficiency in meeting and exceeding client expectations.

As Fees Clerk, you will…

  • Work closely with both the Criminal clerking team and the Finance function within chambers to ensure delivery of an efficient and professional service to all stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Advise barristers as to how they can maximise their billings and the timing of them
  • Liaise with lawyers and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS)
  • Draft invoices for either the CPS if a criminal case or lawyers if not
  • Manage challenges to fees from lawyers
  • Assess current case status via Chambers’ own internal system
  • Implement and maintain Chambers and departmental service and quality standards at all times

So, if you are an experienced Fees or Sales Ledger Clerk…

  • Who has excellent IT skills and a sound understanding of Microsoft Office suite
  • Experienced in sales ledger management and extremely numerate
  • Ideally with a good working knowledge of how chambers operate and practical skills in using the LEX Law system
  • With excellent attention to detail and good at prioritising your workload effectively
  • Able to use your own initiative and you work well under pressure
  • Strong in communicating at all levels, great at building rapport and not afraid to challenge when the need arises – an influencer
  • Who takes pride in doing a good job and used to working to deadlines
  • Is comfortable in asking for help if its needed
